BRAND: House of Marbles
Suitable Age: 3 Years+
A fascinating and traditional Victorian novelty, the Jacobs Ladder is made of brightly painted slats of wood bound (in a secret way!) with ribbons to make them click-clack downwards as you turn it from side to side.
Folded height: 75mm (3inches)
A Jacob's ladder is a folk toy consisting of blocks of wood held together by strings or ribbons. The Jacob's Ladder folk toy, also known as 'tumbling blocks' dates back to the Victorian times. When the ladder is held at one end, blocks appear to cascade down the strings. However, this effect is a visual illusion which is the result of one block after another flipping over. Its name Jacob's Ladder comes from the biblical ladder to heaven, mentioned in Genesis 28:12.

So lovely to be able to buy a traditional Woden toy from years past.
Purchased these as gifts for school children who have been learning all about toys from the Victorian Times. The children were fascinated with them.
